Weekend Poll: Do You Have A Nickname That You Go By?

care-bear-funshine-umbrellaI think we all have nicknames we remember being called in childhood by an adoring (or annoyed) parent. But how many of us have one that either carries on or is created once our younger years have passed? I’d like it know.

    Thankfully, my parent’s nickname for me (meghandoodle) hasn’t carried on.

    My most frequently used nickname is Megs. It was even my DJ name while I was interning for a short time.

    The other one I have was given to me by my goth friends. I get called “C.G.” a lot now. I’m a very protective friend.. so CG is short for “coffin guarder”. Yeah. they’re weird.

    I have a nickname from each of my siblings:
    Einnoc (Connie backwards)
    Conneecola
    Conya
    and of course,
    Conzo.

    Other than that, no, I never was given any nicknames…. ;)

    Koreo’s it. I got it in college. It’s not necesarrily a name I “go by” per say, but it’s always stuck with me ever since. It’s grown on me.

    Rhi, Nano, or Woodstock. On occassion Severus Snape (its a hair thing).
    Rhi and Nano are just from my name.
    Woodstock comes from my love of ‘Peanuts’ and Joni Mitchell.

    But why carebear? They make me hurt.

    I go by Ham. My friend started callin me Leeham (cause my name’s liam) and then Ham just stuck. Funny thing is my friends name is Noah and in the bible noah had a son named ham…. weird…

    Can “I wish” be an option in the poll? Probably half of my friends go by their last name, possibly a tribute to Harry Potter, aka “Potter” (ba-da-psh :D ). But unfortunately, my last name has too many soft, squishy consonants. It’s “Irwin”. The passive schwa I and equally passive short I are connected with a soft R and a squishy W, making my last name gross, not cool, and more appropriate for a girl than for me. So I’m going to place a vote for “I wish I had a last name appropriate for a nickname, but neither do I have one nor do I have any other nickname.
