Meet The NLCast Co-Hosts, Part II: John

I recently asked the two co-hosts of Nobody’s Listening to respond to a series of interview questions. Here’s John:

1. Other than podcasting… what are some of your hobbies?

Woodworking, mostly because I like to be creative and I like to build. When I have time, I enjoy just about any form of woodworking.  Also gaming, music (I play a little guitar and bass), media stuff, and I do volunteer work at my church.

2. Do you have any pets? If so, how many and what types?

No pets or plans to have any. I had a dog when I was a kid and there were many cats that were in and around my house growing up (I’m not too fond of cats these days, don’t hate em, just not fond of them).

3. What is your fav color?

Tough question, I like most colors but I prefer the variations of the color blue, the darker blues are my favs. Whatever color the sky is on a clear Fall afternoon… that would have to be my fav.

4. What’s the last movie you saw (theater or dvd)?

DVD – “Pillow Talk” Doris Day, Rock Hudson, Tony Randall (1959), with the wife… of course (her pick).

5. What’s your fav movie of all time?

Another tough question, it’s like asking who your favorite child is… lately I have been going back to “The Truman Show” Jim Carey (1998).  I know it’s a bit obscure, but it’s a great story and just a well done movie… in my opinion.

6. Where did you first hear about podcasts and podcasting?

Believe it or not, Nobody’s Listening… I didn’t even own an iPod before I knew of the show.  I did have a cheap mp3  player, but I was in no way connected to the world of iTunes.  So, I guess ultimately it was the GOK that taught me about podcasting.

7. What would you say are your top three skills or talents?

Well, I have been told I have good people skills; I like to fix things and usually have some success doing it, and I have heard I’m pretty good on stage… acting that is.

8. If you could live anywhere in the world… where?

I would live in a very sturdy tree house, in the mountains somewhere, near a babbling brook, amongst the forest meadows.  Second star to the right, straight on till morning.

9. If you could meet anyone face to face in time or space… who?

Wow, toughest question of all!  I could say Jesus, but I plan on meeting Him one day and in some respects I have already have met Him.  I could also say meeting just about anyone in space would be pretty cool.  But I think I will say Jane Austen, perhaps then I would get a better understanding of why my wife reads her books so often.  OK then Jane Austen… in space!

10. What is your favorite thing about guest-hosting NLCast?

The sheer pleasure of spending time with two great guys, laughing, and having fun at each other’s expense.  And I would have to say interacting with the listeners too; I have had the opportunity to meet some pretty cool folks through being part of the show.

11. Do you have a question for our listeners?

Two questions:  1) What about the show makes it most fun for you?   And 2) Will you start a fund to get all three of us together in the same studio?

12. Give us one random piece of advice on anything.

Life is short… live it, don’t be afraid to ask for directions, and don’t die wondering about eternity.

13. If you did your own podcast… what would be the topic?

Dinner table family discussions

14. Link your Twitter and Facebook.

15. If you could have any superpower… what would you want?

I would want the superpower that Superman has. If it’s a package deal, that is the superpower that I would want.  If I had to choose just one of his powers, I would want the part that makes him the man of steel (invincibility?).

16. What was your favorite subject in High School?

Gym or study hall… unless lunch a subject?

17. In less than four sentences… how did you meet your spouse?

She was the best friend of the fiancé of my roommate\best friend in college.

18. How long have you been married at this point?

11 years 1 month and 9 days.

19. What would you say is one of your greatest successes in life so far.

Maintaining a loving relationship with my wife.  The fact that she is so patient helps… the fact that she married me is probably my greatest success.

20. If your life was a URl (www.something.com) what would it be?

www.yourlife.com seriously though probably www.isheserious.com

21. If someone gave you $200 and you had to spend it on toys from Toys R Us, what types of toys would you buy?

Console Games, Nerf stuff, Legos, R/C stuff

22. What is printed on your beach towel?

Light and Dark Blue Stripes, my wife picked it out… she knows me!

23. How many pillows do you sleep with?

One.  You mean some people sleep with more?!?

24. Do you have any reoccurring dreams? If so, what?

Yes, I often dream I can fly… It’s sort of like swimming through the air.  I also dream of being famous, but I am usually awake when I am dreaming of that.

25. What kind of sports do you enjoy watching or participating in?

Don’t really like to watch sports on TV, except the Olympics (Summer and Winter) and some Tennis.   I enjoy watching most live sports and I do like to play most sports… I’ll try just about anything.

Not necessary. I think it's great that you'd be willing… but I feel like that would be asking to much.
